ALEXANDRIA, Ind. -- Fans, friends and family in Indiana said their final goodbyes to country singer Joey Feek in a heartfelt memorial in her hometown of Alexandria Sunday.

That's where Joey died, surrounded by family, a little more than a week ago following a long battle with cancer.

Her voice echoed inside the gym at the high school she once attended, perhaps for the last time. Her voice was heard in videos that were shared during an emotional memorial that was full of love and faith.

About 1,200 people paid their respects to Feek at the memorial service.

Joey's former coach gave Rory her old letterman's jacket, but Rory and Joey's sister made it clear that in life, Joey lettered in love.

"I am just an ordinary man that has been given extraordinary love by this woman and I am forever changed by that," Rory said.

"I will forever be thankful for the past 5 months. Joey has taught me so much about myself I never saw... about love and about living and about sacrifice," her sister Jody Martin said.

The memorial ended with people holding hands and singing.
