INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were severely injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck on I-69 just north of 96th Street this afternoon.

Indiana State Troopers, along with other first responders, were called to the scene of a serious crash in the southbound lanes of I-69 just north of 96th Street at 3:54 p.m.

According to ISP, 911 callers were reporting that a motorcycle had hit the back of a truck and the occupants were lying in the road.

Upon arrival, officials found two adults severely injured. One of the adults were unconscious.

Life-saving emergency medical aid was given, and the victims were transported to a local hospital.

Police say a white pick-up truck had slowed to a stop due to stopping traffic when a motorcycle crashed into the back of the vehicle, ejecting both occupants off the motorcycle onto the road.

Both occupants were wearing helmets.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The crash caused several lanes of I-69 to be closed for three hours. All lanes have now re-opened.
