An Indiana State Trooper shot and killed a suspect on the northwest side of Indianapolis Thursday, marking at least the seventh fatal police-action shooting in Indy this year.

The shooting was reported around 2:45 p.m. at the Eagle Pointe Apartments – the same location where IMPD Office Rod Bradway was shot and killed in September 2013.

Very few details were immediately available, although it was known that the state police trooper was shot in the hand, and the suspect was shot and killed.

The shooting is the 17th officer-involved shooting in Indianapolis this year. Sixteen of those involved IMPD officers. Police say there were 19 officer-involved shootings this time last year. Four police-action shootings in 2014 ended in fatalities.

The last suspect fatally shot by police in Indianapolis was 15-year-old Andre Green in August. Police said they feared for their lives when Green attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon against officers.
