INDIANAPOLIS — Here's an intersection to avoid if you can, starting Wednesday.

16th Street and North Meridian, just north of downtown Indianapolis, is getting what Citizens Energy Group calls "sewer rehabilitation work" in the area of the busy intersection.

Work will begin Wednesday, February 5 and last through the end of next week, weather permitting. The intersection will remain open, but various lanes will be closed as needed.

Laura O'Brien, Corporate Communications Coordinator for Citizens Energy, points out that sewers in the downtown area date back to the late 1800's to the early 1900's. "To avoid structure failures such as those that occured downtown in the summer of 2018, Citizens remains committed to investing in sewer rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements," she said.
