MUNCIE, Ind. -- A sexual assault was reported Thursday at a residence hall on the campus of Ball State University.

A public safety advisory email that was sent to students and staff does not say whether the victim was a student at the University.

There was also no information about the time of day the crime happened or in which dorm it took place.

Ball State University Police say their investigation is ongoing and no arrest has been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ball State University Police at (765) 285-1111.

The university says the public safety advisory about the sexual assault was provided in compliance with thefederal Clery Act. which requires all college and universities who receive federal funding to share information about crime on campus.

The advisory also included these tips about sexual assault crime prevention:

  • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, get to a safe place and call for help.
  • Don't feel obligated to do anything you don't want to do.  "I don't want to " is always a good reason
  • Download Ball State Step In. Speak Up app
  • Make sure you have consent. Consent is a clear and freely given yes, not the absence of a no.
