SHELBYVILLE — The Shelbyville street department is warning residents to follow important guidelines when it comes to heavy fall trash clean-up.

Fall clean-up is scheduled for October 2nd through 6th. The trash will be picked up on each resident’s regularly scheduled trash day.

The department is reminding people when they place larger items out on the curb, to do so in an orderly fashion. Make sure to bag all garbage and trash items.

During fall clean-up furniture, mattresses, household items and extra bags of trash will be picked up.

Items need to be set out by 7:00 a.m. and separated by material, wood, metal and trash.

The street department does not have a specific limit of items that they collect. However, they are asking Shelbyville residents to be sure to keep piles “reasonable.”

Crews will not have time to spend more than 5-6 minutes per stop picking up trash. They are expected to make around 1,000 stops a day.

The department warns residents that piles that are extremely large will not be completely collected.  During fall clean-up crews will be collecting recycling items as well.
