JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – A Johnson County victim of car theft has a message for the "lowlifes" and "bums" who took his 20-year-old stick-shift car, and we have a few ways to prevent this from happening to you.

- There have been many cases of theft while cars are warming up in Marion County, but Sheriff Doug Cox says this is the first Johnson County has seen this year.
- Someone took a man’s beloved 1995 Nissan in his Greenwood neighborhood while the car was warming up.
- There are ways to prevent this from happening to you: Find space in your garage to park, use an automatic car-starter or a steering-wheel lock, or just simply stay with your car as it’s warming up.
