GREENFIELD — In Greenfield, police thought they had a SWAT incident on their hands, early Tuesday evening.
The Greenfield Police Department's SWAT team was called to a house on West Main Street, which is also U.S.40, on a report that a person had been shot there.
It turned out to be a hoax. There was no shooting and the people who live at the address had no idea why police suddenly surrounded their house.
Meanwhile, streets just west of the center of town were closed off.
The whole thing lasted about one hour, according to Matt Holland of the Greenfield Police Department.
Police will now focus their efforts on finding those responsible for the false report.
