INDIANAPOLIS -- There are still 13 more days until the big race – and Carl Fisher will be spending all of them at the track.
Fisher is spending the entire month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway writing his book, "The 100th Indy 500, 30 days in May 2016."
He's also asked students at Speedway Junior High School to submit essays about why the 100th Indy 500 is the greatest spectacle in the history of sports.
Fisher says he was overwhelmed by the response and enthusiasm from Speedway's 7th and 8th grade students.
Seventy students submitted essays on the topic. On May 23, the winners of the essay competition will be announced. Ten essays will be published in the book.
In addition, all 70 names of the students who submitted an essay will be listed.
