INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis International Airport is extra busy as spring break travelers head to and from their destinations.
More than 18,000 people used the airport one recent day.
There's a new feature that can get travelers through security quicker.
An electronic sign shows the estimated wait times at checkpoints A and B.
If there's a big difference in the times, travelers can go to the gate with the shorter wait.
"That's very helpful. That way you know if you're in a hurry or you're not in a hurry to get through there. So yeah, it's a good idea," said passenger Jennifer Scharbrough.
The Transportation Security Administration says the busiest times in Indianapolis are between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. and it recommends travelers arrive two-hours before flight time.
Bomb-sniffing dogs are used at peak times, in part, to speed up the security process by smelling items ahead of time that could raise a red flag.
The TSA also suggests putting everything from your pockets into your carry on bag rather than in the bin.
