State deploys response team to help former ITT Tech employees

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Former ITT Tech employees are now trying to find new jobs after the school announced on September 6 that it would be ending all operations.

Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development is deploying its ‘Rapid Response Team’ to reach out to the nearly 700 former employees to help them get back on their feet.

That help will come in the form of resources to find new jobs, finding new jobs, building a resume and fine-tuning their interview skills.

Reality has sunk in for sisters Hannah Washington and Sarah McCrary who were both employed full time at ITT Tech’s corporate office in Carmel. It’s a scenario they never imagined would happen to them.

Both women say they’ve been updating their resumes and submitting dozens of applications online.

Washington says they’re also relying on their faith to pull them through until they can figure out the next steps, “I really don’t want to take another job. I’m 30 years old. I’m looking for a career. I really don’t want to do the temp agency. But if it comes to a point, if I have to, I will.”

McCrary says they’ve both been spending their time at the library, updating their resumes and submitting dozens of applications online. “Just really trying to fill out applications to find any job that is kind of the same pay as what I was making. Just to make ends meet for me and my husband.”

If you or someone you know needs help finding a job visit the Department of Workforce Development website.
