UPDATE: The statewide Silver Alert for a missing Coal City man has been canceled, according to Indiana State Police.

COAL CITY — A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Coal City man who may be in extreme danger and may need medical assistance.

According to the Silver Alert, the Bloomington post of the Indiana State Police are investigating the disappearance of Elbert Wayne Vanarsdale, 73, of Coal City. Vanarsdale is described as a white male, 5-feet 10-inches tall, weighing 189 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap and flannel shirt and driving a black 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada with an Indiana license plate D228SA.

Police said Vanarsdale was last seen on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
