INDIANAPOLIS — A popular restaurant in a busy area on the northeast side is closed indefinitely.
The health department suspended the license of the Steak n' Shake near 71st Street and Binford Boulevard because of "significant pest and sanitation issues."
According to the inspection report, officials found a large amount of flies, piles of trash and rotten food in the kitchen, prep area and cook line.
Now a sign on the front door says the location is closed while it transitions to a new franchise owner and undergoes renovations.
