Good news for Carmel residents -- your city was named the No. 1 place to live in the Hoosier state.
The ranking was done by Niche.com, and looked at the following factors:
- Cost of living
- Education
- Public schools
- Real estate
- Diversity
- Health and fitness
- Nightlife
- Shortest commute
- Crime and safety
- Jobs
- Outdoor
- Weather
Cost of living was weighted at 15 percent of the methodology.
Carmel received A's or B's in every category, except for outdoor activities, where it received a C+.
Indianapolis was ranked at No. 41, taking a big hit for the "crime and safety" category.
In Niche.com's national ranking, Carmel was listed as the No. 13 place to live in the country.
