INDIANAPOLIS -- For the third year in a row, the Indy Public Safety Foundation, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department are teaming up with community partners to remove graffiti from homes and businesses free of charge.

The work will be done by 18 to 24 year old members of the Recycle Force Program, which provides transitional jobs and training to people who were recently behind bars.

“Graffiti is something a lot of people think is a very trivial issue, but it plagues our entire community here in Indianapolis,” said Dane Nutty with the Indy Public Safety Foundation. “It can lead to increase crime, blight and decay in the neighborhoods and just kind of a lake of hope and growth and prosperity in our neighborhoods in Indianapolis.”

The group plans to remove 30 to 40-thousand square feet of graffiti over the summer.

If you know of a property that needs attention you can call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622.
