INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana House and Senate paid tribute to the life and legacy of a woman who sacrificed herself to save children.
Legislators approved a resolution Tuesday honoring former Amy Beverland Principal Susan Jordan.
One of Jordan's daughters spoke at the Statehouse.
"My mother never did anything to receive awards or accolades," she said. "She did things because they were the right thing to do. She expected the best in herself and in everyone else. That's why she was perfectly suited to be the principal of a public elementary school."
In late January, Jordan sacrificed her life after a school bus jumped the curb at Amy Beverland Elementary. She was seen pushing students out of the way of the bus.

No charges were filed against the driver, as no alcohol or drugs were found in her system. Indiana law says in the absence of impairment, negligence itself is not a crime.
