INDIANAPOLIS—Trial is underway in Indianapolis for a 26-year-old man charged in the 2016 murder of a north side woman.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 30-year-old Jessica Whitehouse was found dead inside her home in the 4300 block of North Norwaldo Avenue on November 2, 2016. She had been shot several times. Police said her car, purse and phone were missing.
About 18-months later, in April of last year, Lawon Browning was arrested. Court records show Browning was charged with Murder, Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Carrying a Handgun Without a License.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said investigators were able to connect Browning to the murder through witness statements, phone records and DNA analysis.
A possible motive behind the young woman's shooting death has not been released.
