LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A 3-foot-long stainless steel sword was stolen in the last week from a prominent statue at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse.
The sword was held by the statue of the Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat and military officer who fought for the United States in the Revolutionary War – and for whom Lafayette is named.
Lafayette police and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department are looking for anyone who might have information as to the sword's whereabouts.
Anyone with information should contact the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department at 765-423-9321.
