INDIANAPOLIS – Tamika Catchings, retired basketball star of the Indiana Fever, recently purchased a tea café on Indy’s north side.

Catchings is the new owner of Tea’s Me Café Indy at 140 E. 22nd Street. During her time with the Indiana Fever, Catchings said she would often visit the café to unwind.

“We grew up with tea, and I remember as a little girl with my sister, we would have ‘tea parties,’” said Catchings. “I would have to bargain with her. We would have tea for an hour, just so we could go play basketball for an hour. I guess overtime, enough tea parties became engrained in me. “
