GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The lockdown at a career/technical school in Greenwood due to a report of a non-student in the building has been lifted.
The Central Nine Career Center went on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. The school is located just off U.S. 31, near Stop 18 Road.
A spokesperson for the Greenwood Police Department said the individual they were seeking has mental issues and could be armed.
Officers combed through the school while kids inside hid under their desks and sheltered in place, according to a witness on scene. Police eventually cleared the school around 2 p.m.
Parents are allowed to come to the school to pick up their children.
Officers have not yet said whether they found the suspect they were looking for, but they did say several officers were going to remain at the school.
