MARION, Ind. -- Family and police were searching for a missing Marion teen who ran away from a secure residential facility.
As of Friday, 13-year-old Breonna Johnson hadn't been heard from in a week.
Johnson's aunt and grandmother say they didn't even know she had run away until they called the Paddock View Residential Center – where Johnson had been ordered to stay for being truant for school – asking to talk to her.
Marion police notified statewide and national crime databases within two hours of learning about Johnson's disappearance.
"It's never good, and especially alarming that a child that age is missing," said Marion Police Capt. John Kauffman.
Johnson's family has gone throughout Marion conducting their own searches for the missing girl. They just want her home safe and sound.
"Let me know you're OK," her aunt, Jenny Stambaugh, said. "I just want her safe."
Anyone with information about Johnson's disappearance is asked to contact the Grant County Tip Line at 765-662-9864.
