TIPPECANOE COUNTY — Four teenagers were rescued late Saturday from Wildcat Creek in Tippecanoe County after the inflatable children's pool they were using to float down the creek became stranded on a submerged log.
According to a report from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call came in shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday reporting four juveniles stranded on the north fork of Wildcat Creek. After an extensive search, the juveniles were located on the creek just north of the 6400 block of East 100 North.
Deputies said the juveniles — three 17-year-olds and one 15-year-old — were using an inflatable children's pool to float down the creek when it became stranded on the submerged log. The juveniles had no means of directing the pool and were unable to swim to safety due to flood level waters and the lack of personal flotation devices.
Crews used throw ropes to pull the juveniles to shore. All four were uninjured and were released to their parents.
The sheriff's office was assisted by the Buck Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Tippecanoe Emergency Ambulance Service, Lafayette Fire Department and the Tippecanoe County Emergency Management Agency.
