INDIANAPOLIS -- A thief scored big in a car break-in in Broad Ripple on Monday.
Security cameras caught the thief breaking into a car and making off with phones, a computer and other valuables worth an estimated $10,000.
The owner of the car, who asked to be identified only as Tom, said he was surprised.
"Normally I would have concealed anything in my car if I thought I was in an area that has a lot of crime," Tom said. "I didn't think that was the case in Broad Ripple."
Police say that restaurants, gyms and shopping mall parking lots are favorite targets for thieves looking to break into vehicles.
