Posted
and last updated

Veterinary clinics in Morgan and Johnson counties have been burglarized recently by people seeking drugs.

The main drug being taken is called Ketamine. It's used for anesthesia in animals.

Authorities say it's known as "Special K" on the streets and is used by people as a hallucinogen.

Thieves broke in through a window at Midwest Equine Veterinary Hospital and took Ketamine. The drug was also stolen in a prior burglary as well as Pentobarbital.

The Horse and Hound Veterinary Clinic in Morgan County has also been hit, although the crooks came up empty.

The sheriff's department does have some leads in the burglary at Horse and Hound.

There will be changes made to security at Midwest Equine Veterinary Hospital.
