Three charged in connection with deadly shooting on city's east side

INDIANAPOLIS -- Three people have been charged in connection with the deadly shooting of an Indianapolis man.

Carl Rice Jr., 31, was shot on May 23 near the intersection of Bankers Lane and Washington Street.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives allege that Robert Curry, 27, was responsible killing Rice.

Curry and 19-year-old Alex Cole were arrested on May 25 in Miamisburg, Ohio.

On June 2, Curry was charged in Marion Co. with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a handgun without a license.

Cole was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a handgun without a license.

In addition, police say Mariah Echols, 21, was charged with assisting a criminal.
