BARGERSVILLE, Ind. – People are on edge in Bargersville after several home break-ins, including a few in which residents woke up to find a man standing just a few feet away from them in their homes.
Three families were targeted in the middle of the night Tuesday into Wednesday and the attacks spanned over 4 hours.
One victim we spoke to (we are not naming her for safety purposes) says she woke up early Wednesday morning to see the shadow of a man standing by her bedroom door.
She says the burglar ran out the back door, and got away with cash, a security camera and a lighter.
A couple hours later, the burglar – whom police believe is young, perhaps in his early 20s – may have been the same man to break into a house down the street from that first victim.
The next house’s resident tried to chase the burglar outside, but the suspect got away.
A couple hours later, another Bargersville family noticed someone had broken into their garage, cutting a window screen to get inside.
Once there, the burglar (perhaps the same one, but we can’t be sure yet) pried open a gun safe and took off with two loaded firearms.
The detective covering the cases doesn’t have a very good suspect description, but hopes anyone with information will contact Bargersville police at 317-422-1222.
