INDIANAPOLIS – Three Indianapolis firefighters injured Sunday while fighting an apartment fire have been released from the hospital, IFD said Monday.

The firefighters were hospitalized for burns they received from a flashover while they were carrying a female resident down the stairs.

All three firefighters received thermal burns and were treated at Eskenazi Hospital. IFD said the woman they were rescuing was not burned.

The fire damaged six units in the Laurel Lake Apartments, near the 8700 block of S. Keystone Ave.

Firefighters say a woman woke up with smoke in her apartment. Another woman jumped from the second floor to get out, but investigators say she is okay.

The fire caused an estimated $400,000 in damage.
