Human remains found in debris of home destroyed by fire in Tipton County

TIPTON COUNTY, Ind. -- Human remains were found in the debris after a home was destroyed by fire in Tipton County early Saturday morning. 

Firefighters responded to the home in the 1800 block of North County Road 700 East just after 4 a.m. When they arrived on the scene the two-story building, flames were visible and the home was partially collapsed. 

It took crews from the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Wildcat Township Volunteer Fire Department more than three hours to put out the fire. 

A cadaver canine located human remains in the debris after the fire was extinguished. 

Those remains have not yet been identified. 

One firefighter was injured while battling the fire but is expected to be okay. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
