INDIANAPOLIS – Now that the rain is behind us – finally - it’s time to enjoy some outdoor activities. This weekend kicks off race season with the IndyCar Grand Prix, while lacing in some other family-friendly events.

Here are your top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend:

Broad Ripple Spring Art Walk

Broad Ripple Village

Friday at 5 p.m.

Several of the area’s galleries, boutiques and shops will host their own art exhibits this Friday. Stop by the Broad Ripple Village Association first to grab a map of all participating locations.

IndyCar Grand Prix

Indianapolis Motor Speedway - 4790 W. 16th Street

Saturday at 7:30 a.m.

To kick off racing season in the circle city, the IndyCar Grand Prix offers lightning fast cars – of course - along with autograph sessions, pre-race grid walks and access to Gasoline Alley.

500 Festival Kids' Day

Monument Circle

Saturday at noon

This carnival-like event gives kids the chance to take pictures with mascots, race mini cars, bounce in giant inflatables and even make sashes with the 500 Festival Princesses.

Indianapolis Royal Princess Ball

Indianapolis Marriott East – 7202 E. 21st Street

Saturday at 9 a.m.

Surprise your little one with an opportunity to meet their favorite Disney princesses. The event will include performances, etiquette lessons, craft tables and more – all led by Disney characters.

2017 Virginia Avenue Folk Fest

Be part of one of the state’s largest single-day music festivals this Saturday where 100 acts will play on 13 stages. The music fest will also feature local vendors and art on display.
