Top 6 ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Slainte! St. Patrick's Day is almost here, which means there will be plenty of green drinks, green clothes, and fun. 

Shamrock beer run/walk

When: Sat. March 12 

Where: Georgia Street

What better way to start a run than with a toast of local beer? And what better way to continue that run than with a stop at every kilometer to drink another beer? All runners will get a shirt, medal and souvenir pint glass of beer. The run starts at 2:00 p.m. on Georgia Street.

Blarney Bash 

When: Sat. March 12 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Where: Georgia Street

The fourth annual Blarney Bash will include tents with green beer and Irish drinks from The Pub Indianapolis, Howl at the Moon, Kilroy's and Tilted Kilt. Local bands will also be performing. Admission is $5 in advance or $10 at the door. You must be 21 to attend.

Main Street St. Pat's Pub Crawl 

When: March 12 

Where: Speedway 

Green beads, green beer, green shots -- what more could you want? The St. Pat's Pub Crawl on Main Street in Speedway features a variety of food, drinks and live music.

St. Pat's Bar Crawl 

When: March 12 

Where: Downtown Indianapolis 

The bar crawl includes admission to participating venues, promo drink cards, drink specials, shuttle service and Uber credit.

Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal 

When: March 16 

Where: Ohio & West Street, Indianapolis 

For the 20th straight year, the Hoosier Lottery will turn the downtown canal green. The event goes from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and includes live music.

St. Patrick's Day Parade 

When: March 17 

Where: Downtown Indianapolis 

The 36th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade includes high school bands, floats, Irish dancers, bag pipe and drum bands, Irish organizations and dignitaries. The parade is free. You can also attend a block party from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Vermont Street that will include live entertainment, food, interactive displays and a beer garden. The block party is also free.
