BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- No serious injuries were reported after a train crashed into a car.
The CSX train hit the car around 10:30 a.m. Saturday just inside the entrance to Lucas Oil Raceway, east of County Rd. 1000 East in Brownsburg, near U.S. 136. "As the involved vehicle was crossing the railroad tracks, the vehicle in front of her stopped suddenly after crossing the tracks, possibly due to a line of traffic entering the park," said Sgt. April Hyde with Brownsburg Police. "This caused the involved vehicle to be stopped on the tracks when the train was approaching."
The vehicle was pushed about 400 feet down the tracks before the train came to a stop. The woman driving the car suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Her son, who was a passenger, was not hurt.
