CLAY COUNTY, Ind. – The two children who were killed in a crash on I-70 in Terre Haute Tuesday afternoon have been identified.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts said a semi-truck and car crashed on I-70 westbound near the 16 mile marker around 2:45 p.m. Watts said one child was listed in critical condition and the children’s mother was also injured.

ISP said a westbound semi-truck driven by 62-year-old Amritpal Singh of Quebec, Canada failed to slow down during a construction zone and struck a Honda Odyssey van driven by a 33-year-old Ohio mother carrying her three children.

The semi truck then hit the back of another truck driven by 57-year-old Russell D. Sims of Indianapolis.

Brennan Bereda, 5 and Finley Bereda, 1, died as a result of their injuries. Their mother was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital.

The woman's 3-year-old child was airlifted to Riley Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One truck driver was also airlifted, Watts said.

The family was traveling from Ohio to Missouri at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
