INDIANAPOLIS — Two men are going to prison for 40-years for the kidnapping and torture of a young woman in Indianapolis in 2018.
"The torture inflicted on this young woman is unimaginably cruel," Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. "The survivor showed great strength by testifying at trial, that ultimately led to these men being held accountable for this heinous crime."
Quantavious Jones and Irving Madden were convicted of Aggravated Battery, Kidnapping for Ransom, Criminal Confinement. and Kidnapping with Serious Bodily Injury. They were sentenced Monday by Marion County Criminal Court Judge Shatrese Flowers.
According to the prosecutor, the incident began when the victim agreed to accept a package for Jones. The package did not arrive on time and Jones then picked up the victim and took her to a house on West 29th Street.
The young woman was taken to the basement, handcuffed to a pole and later a chair. The two men beat and threw boiling water on her until she passed out. Later, the victim was forced to remove her clothes and more boiling water was thrown on her. She was then driven to the city's east side and dumped off. There she found a cell phone and called her mother for help.
Investigators questioned the victim at the hospital where she was treated for serious burns, facial injuries and a lacerated liver. She was able to identify Jones and Madden as the men who tortured her.
