One dead, another hospitalized following a motorcycle v. van crash in Madison County

MADISON CO. — A two-vehicle crash on County Road 600 put one person in the hospital Monday night, and took the life of another.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Department, a crash investigations team was dispatched at approximately 6:46 p.m. to the crash at County Road 600 West, north of Country Road 500 North.

Witnesses and evidence gathered shows that a 1997 Ford Windstar van, traveling southbound on C.R. 600, crossed over the centerline and struck a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle head-on. Claiming the life of 65-year-old, Danny Kinser of Anderson.

The rider of the motorcycle was airlifted to Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was pronounced dead, and the driver of the van was transported to Community Hospital in Anderson.

The driver of the van, Daniel Ellis, 36, sustained bruising to his chest and an injury to his left arm, according to Operation Commander David Callahan.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
