BROWN COUNTY, Ind. -- Two women were shot but expected to survive Tuesday afternoon in rural Brown County.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at a house on the 1700 block of Lucas Hollow Road north of State Road 46, between Columbus and Nashville.
Brown County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area after a woman called saying she had been shot, and the man who shot her was walking down the road.
Officers arrived to find Joshua Asher, 30, of Nashville, Indiana, who surrendered without incident.
One female victim was transported by medical helicopter from the scene to IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis. A second female victim was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital.
Police said one of the victims was the estranged girlfriend of Asher. Asher had been served with a protective order Monday night on behalf of his girlfriend.
Asher was arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury, domestic battery and invasion of privacy.
Both female victims were listed as stable as of Tuesday night.
