UNION CITY, Ind. – Despite several praises about the Hoosier state, an Indiana city earned an unwanted title this week. Union City, Indiana was named one of the poorest towns by 24/7 Wall Street.
With over 31 percent of the population living below the poverty line – more than twice Indiana’s statewide rate – the town was given the title.
About 1 in 4 people living in Union City receive food stamps compared to 12.5 percent of Hoosiers statewide.
