INDIANAPOLIS — Veterans have several opportunities in the coming months to receive a free flu shot through a drive-thru clinic.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on Tuesday announced that Veteran Health Indiana will provide the shots at the Indy West VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic, 3850 Shore Drive, Suite 203, Indianapolis.

Veterans are asked to bring their VA card and wear a short-sleeved shirt to receive their flu shot from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. on the following days:

  • Sept. 18, 25
  • Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
  • Nov. 6, 13, 20

Officials said getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever this year to minimize the risk of illness and possible hospitalization. Hand washing, face coverings and social distancing are all important in eliminating infections.

New veteran patients should contact Veteran Health Indiana's Health Benefits Unit office at 317-988-4301 to enroll in VA healthcare or veterans can enroll online.
