Vandal rips up yards in Franklin Township

Posted

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ind. – People who live in Burton Crossing say it's damage that could take months to reverse, and they want the person responsible to lay off.

Someone hit the southeast-side neighborhood this week, driving through several yards and causing a lot of damage.

One resident isn’t sure why anyone would do that, but he has his suspicions.

“Maybe (it was) somebody drunk, joyriding, or maybe some (high school) seniors that are letting off some steam,” Sean Daniels said.

Daniels woke up one day this week to find someone drove through his front yard. The damage is obvious to anyone who drives by his corner lot, which is now gutted and torn up.

“It was pretty upsetting and disappointing to find that,” Daniels said. “I’m pretty much ‘attention to detail,’ so I really like having a nice yard.”

Down the street, his neighbor Robert Logsdon’s yard is torn up as well.

“‘I just want to catch whoever (did) it and either take them to justice, or do my own justice,’ – is what I thought at first,” Logsdon said. “Don’t come back, because if I catch ya, you won’t like me very much.”

Daniels calls this an isolated incident. He’s lived in the neighborhood for over a decade without any issue.

But he says the vandal or vandals hit his corner lot at the worst possible time.

“Curb appeal is everything, especially if you’re going to try and sell your house,” Daniels said. “And we were in the process of putting our house up on the market.”

Of the victims we spoke to, none of them actually filed a police report, saying they didn’t think it would lead to anything if they did.

Police say you should always contact them if something like this happens to you so they can keep tabs on vandalism.
