INDIANAPOLIS -- In order to better serve the veterans who've served our country, the mayor's office will provide free bus passes to veterans in Indianapolis.
Mayor Joe Hogsett and City-County Councilor Scott Kreider announced the program Wednesday, which was reinstated through a partnership with IndyGo.
The program will provide more than 23,000 bus rides for Indianapolis residents who have served in the armed forces.
Kreider, a Republican, praised the bipartisan effort to make the initiative happen.
The bus passes will be available by calling the Mayor's Action Center at 317-327-4622.
Hogsett and Kreider are also working on a similar prgram that would allow all Marion County veterans to use IndyGo services.
“Our veterans have made incredible sacrifices for our country,” Hogsett said. “This program will ensure they have access to jobs and medical facilities, as well as resources and retail establishments across our great city.”
