INDIANAPOLIS — Vice President Mike Pence announced on Twitter that he and his wife, Karen, will attend former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar's funeral on Wednesday.
Lugar's funeral is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Indianapolis' north side.
"Honored to deliver a eulogy for this great man who inspired so many in public service — including me," Pence wrote.
Lugar, who died at the age of 87 on April 28 in Virginia, will lie in state in the Indiana Statehouse for 24 hours prior to the funeral. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will speak at noon Tuesday at a brief ceremony in the rotunda.
