INDIANAPOLIS -- A person was shot and Wednesday evening near 21st Street and on the east side.
The shooting happened around 7:40 p.m. on the 2100 block of Emerson Knoll Place.
Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but was declared dead a short time later.

The shooting is the city's 99th criminal homicide of the year, and the eighth in the past week alone.
