Video camera catches 'Grinch' in the act

Posted

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- Police in Central Indiana were looking this week for a "Grinch" who stole a family's Christmas gifts.

Marilyn Hickrod said she was notified that her grandkids' Christmas gifts had been delivered. But, when she went to look for it, it was nowhere to be found.

A look at her home surveillance system turned up an answer.

"The next spot on the camera was a man walking up to the door, stopped, hesitates and walked away with the box that was left in the regular spot by the mail lady," Hickrod said.

Hickrod shared the video and pictures with police, who posted it online and have asked for tips in finding the suspect.

"This technology that's out there now allows you to put this kind of thing out there, so I'm hopeful and expectant that we will get a call on this," said Hendricks County Sheriff Brett Clark. "We've had good success with our Facebook pages helping us to solve these types of crimes in the past, and I don't expect this to be any different."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department.
