INDIANAPOLIS — Volunteers planted dozens of trees at Sanders School in the Mars Hill neighborhood Wednesday.

Fed-Ex team members joined the Arbor Day Foundation and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful for the project.

They planted shade and fruit trees, including apple, paw-paw and sweet cherry.

The idea is to make school grounds more inviting while giving the students access to fresh fruit, while teaching them first-hand about tree care, nutrition and the benefits of trees.
