Wanted: Used, broken Xmas lights for good cause

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- First, she collected beer cans to help benefit schools, and they called her The Can Lady.

Now, she wants your holiday lights.

Last year, Mary Stumpp recycled 500,000 cans from Sun King Brewery and festivals across Indianapolis –- getting local schools $18,000 as a result.

Stumpp wants to do the same with the copper that can be stripped from used or broken holiday lights.

The copper goes for .13 per pound, which Stumpp says she will continue to give back to Indianapolis Public Schools art programs.

Now through Jan. 8, drop off your lights at any of the below locations to help her cause. You don't have to remove the lights and, better yet, you don't even have to untangle them!

LOCATIONS:

Sun King Brewery – 135 N. College Ave.
Sullivan Hardware & Garden: 6955 N. Keystone Ave. AND 4838 N. Pennsylvania Ave..
Teachers’ Treasures: 1800 E 10th St
IPS Schools 91, 84, 70, 2, 27
