INDIANAPOLIS — The 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is this Friday in downtown Indianapolis, and that means downtown drivers must deal with some street closures.

The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and should be over by 1:30 p.m.

The route is about one-mile long in the heart of downtown.

Beginning at North and Pennsylvania streets, the parade will head south on Pennsylvania, turn right on westbound Ohio Street, right again to northbound Meridian Street and ending at Meridian and Vermont streets.

This parade is only one part of a three-day St. Patrick's celebration in Indianapolis.

Thursday at 5pm, is the annual Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal at Ohio and West streets.

On Saturday at 10 a.m. the annual Shamrock Run and Walk takes place on Massachusetts Avenue.

Also on Saturday: The annual IFD Shamrockin’ Mass Ave Tent Party at the IFD union hall.
