Lawrence gets GPS to safely track suspects

Posted

LAWRENCE, Ind. – The Lawrence Police Department says it will soon be using technology to track runaway suspects via GPS, which will keep things safer and less volatile when someone takes off to flee from officers.

It’s technology that’s been tested successfully in Florida, but Lawrence would be the first place in Indiana to use it.

The City of Lawrence was awarded $14,000 through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s competitive Edward Byrne Memorial Grant to fund the project, which will use StarChase’s pursuit management system.
