NOBLESVILLE — A little boy in Noblesville got a big surprise on Friday when his mother — who has been deployed for the past year — showed up at his school during a makeshift assembly in the library.
U.S. Army Sergeant Jessica Pass, 28, was deployed in February 2019 and served overseas in Iraq for more than 11 months.
Her son, Hunter, is a second grader at Hazel Dell Elementary School. After learning Jessica was returning from her deployment, the school worked with the family to create a special surprise just for Hunter, who hasn't seen his mom in nearly a year.
The school gathered all the students in the Library and passed out American flags to celebrate the special moment. Then, just before bringing in Hunter's class, Jessica hid inside a giant box in front of the crowd.
When Hunter's class was called in, the teacher gave a speech about what the surprise could be and then out popped Jessica!
