Sanders said he hopes Indiana sees a historic voter turnout – something he believes would bode well for him.

"It's very important for two reasons: Number one, there are a lot of delegates here and we need to win as many as we can, and we think we will. But equally important is, if we win here, and I think we can, it will give us momentum going into the next nine states, including California."
