INDIANAPOLIS -- It's the day race fans have been waiting for.
The gates to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened to the public Thursday and practice runs began on the track.
We sent Skycam 6 to check out the action from high above.
Here are a couple of highlights to look out for as you watch the video in the player above:
- At 1:00 - follow a driver around the Grand Prix course
- At 4:30 - get a tour of the new Gate 1 Plaza
- At 5:00 - take a trip around the track from 5,000 feet
- At 9:00 - check out the pits and front stretch

Don't forget - even though they're sold out - there's still a chance you can win reserved seat tickets to the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
