CARMEL — A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for residents in western Carmel due to a fire hydrant that was unexpectedly blown off the water line, potentially leading to contamination of the water supply.
The Water Operations Department is actively investigating the situation to implement necessary repairs.
There is no estimated time for the restoration of water service. As of now, residents in the areas shown below (west of College Avenue) are being asked to boil water until further notice.

Instructions:
Residents should bring all water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) full minute and allow it to cool before using it for:
- Drinking
- Cooking or food preparation
- Brushing teeth
- Making ice
- Washing fruits and vegetables
It is recommended to avoid using ice from automatic ice makers or drinking fountains until the system has been adequately flushed and tested.
Carmel Utilities is actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal water pressure.
Once service is reinstated, water samples will be collected and tested to ensure safety.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until lab testing confirms that the water is safe to drink.
Residents will be notified as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted.
